1. Types of BP Pipelines Overview #
In BuildPiper, there are two types of pipelines — each designed for a specific delivery scope. Click either card to jump to its details.
Application Pipeline
▸
Scoped to a single application — orchestrates CI/CD for all services that belong to one application’s delivery lifecycle.
Global Pipeline
▸
Platform-wide — references and manages services across the entire BuildPiper platform for cross-application CI/CD operations.
Application Pipeline #
The Application Pipeline is designed for managing services that belong to a specific application. All services associated with that application can be referenced within this pipeline and configured collectively.
Key Capabilities #
Multi-Service Build & Deploy
Perform build and deployment operations for multiple services as part of a single application workflow.
Centralised CI/CD Configuration
Apply a centralised CI/CD configuration for all services within the application.
Simplified Multi-Service Releases
Simplifies management when multiple services need to be built, tested, and deployed together.
Coordinated Release Orchestration
Ideal for application-specific release orchestration where dependent services need coordinated execution.

Global Pipeline #
The Global Pipeline provides a platform-wide pipeline configuration that is not limited to a single application. It allows services across the entire BuildPiper platform to be referenced and managed for CI/CD operations.
Key Capabilities #
Cross-Application Workflows
Configure and execute CI/CD workflows across multiple applications and services.
Reusable Pipeline Definitions
Centralise common pipeline definitions that can be reused across teams or projects.
Org-Wide Standardisation
Useful for implementing standardised build, security scan, compliance, or deployment workflows across the organisation.
Operational Control Beyond Apps
Enables broader operational control beyond application boundaries.
